2021 RECAP:
"The 5th Annual Newfound Open Golf Tournament was held in spectacular 70 degree plus weather at the Den Brae Golf Course in Sanbornton, NH on Saturday, 11 September 2021. Fifteen (15) teams competed in this year's best ball scramble, with fifty-eight (58) NMHS and NRHS alumni participating. Alumni golfers representing classes from 1966 to 2018 played in this year's tournament. At its conclusion, the team consisting of Nick Lazaris (2004), Josh Pabst (2003), Tyler Thistle (2009), and Jimmy Johnson (2004) was declared the overall winner by shooting a 60 (-12) over 18 holes. The class of 1976, represented by Ray Bailey, Richard Inman, Wendell Palmer, and Dana Torsey were declared the 2021 overall class champion, scoring a 68 (-4)."
2020 RECAP:
"Sunday, 13 September 2020, the 4th Annual Newfound Open Golf Tournament was held in beautiful 70 degree weather at the Den Brae Golfe in Sanbornton, NH. Forty-three (43) NMHS and NRHS alumni divided into eleven (11) teams competing for "bragging rights" in this year's best ball scramble. Alumni golfers represented graduating classes ranging over a fifty (50) year time period, from the class of 1966 to the class of 2016. At the tournaments' conclusion, the team consisting of Keith MacLean, Matt MacLean, Gordon Tapply, and Dan MacLean was declared the overall winner after shooting a 64 (-8) over 18 holes. A team of 1974 graduates, represented by Beryl Reid, Bruce Huntoon, Brent Clement, and Paul O'Connor was declared this year's class champion, scoring a 66 (-6). This was their third win in the past four years.
3rd Annual Newfound Open Golf Scramble
The Third Annual Newfound Open was played September 8th at the Waukewan Golf Course in Center Harbor. It was a huge success as 26 Newfound alumni turned out for an afternoon of golf and fun in great weather and a beautifully conditioned golf course. At the conclusion of this years tournament, a class of 1974 foursome consisting of Brent Clement, Beryl Reid, Bruce Huntoon, and Carl Buzzell edged out six other teams. Next years Newfound Open will be held on September 13, 2020 at a location yet to be determined. To participate in this annual scramble you must have attended or graduated from NMHS or NRHS. Class teams are encouraged.
2nd Annual Newfound Open Golf Scramble
"The Second Annual Newfound Open was played October 14th at the scenic White Mountain Golf Course in Ashland. Fifteen Newfound Alumni participated in this years spirited event which culminated in a very competitive afternoon of golf with only 5 strokes separating the four teams. At the conclusion of this years tournament, a foursome consisting of Pete Daniels, Bob Moyer, Ray Avery, and Sam Avery claimed the bragging rights for 2018. Next years Newfound Open will be held on September 8, 2019 at a location yet to be determined. To participate you must have attended or graduated from NMHS or NRHS."
2017 The First Annual Newfound Open Golf Scramble was held at Den Brae Golf Course Saturday, October 14th 2017. The inaugural tournament was played in near perfect conditions and was hotly contested throughout the day. When scorecards were tallied at the conclusion of play, victory belonged to Team '74. The Second Annual Newfound Open Golf Scramble will be held in September 2018. Information concerning the exact date and location will be promulgated this coming spring/summer.
